There is nothing
more incredible than a
photograph that captures the
bright-eyed innocence of a
child...their curiosity, their
energy, their beauty. It
is an art; it is a talent; it is
a gift that is developed through
practice. Susan Biggs has
practiced her photographic art
for more than 24 years. While her talent
goes beyond child photography
this area is a favorite of hers
since she is a mother herself
and understands the pleasure of
having special moments
preserved. Her talent abounds in
the creation of photographs that
capture the essence of each
individual. She takes
time—the time to uncover personalities,
to identify favorite activities, and
reveal individual
characteristics that can only
be captured with a passion for creativity. Susan has a style
that blends fine art and
portrait photography, capturing life on the move;
finding art in everyday moments.
Susan is originally from
Tulsa, Oklahoma. After
studying photography at Stephens
College in Columbia,
Missouri, she moved to
Colorado Springs in the
early 1980s. There, Susan studied
under noted Colorado photographer Myron Wood for two
years, eventually taking her skills to the classroom; engaging children in the magic of photography.
Susan's incredible work began
with a simple black and white
study of children in the
classroom. Her keen eye for
candid moments, and instinctive
ability to catch children "lost
in themselves," resulted in a
series of fine art prints that
sold out in a single evening.
Susan quickly realized she could
combine two loves into a single
joy.
